Hi there! Lovely to meet you. Looking forward to making creative photos together.
I've been taking photos since my dad gave me my first camera on my 13th birthday. I started shooting photos of people, bands, and events, and never looked back.
My first love is collaborating with people to create beautiful images. Portraiture is endlessly fascinating, challenging, and rewarding...and never the same thing twice.
I've been making costumes and attending Comic-Cons for ages, and in 2014 I started bringing my camera to conventions. I've been fortunate to shoot with hundreds of fun, enthusiastic people who bring to life characters from comic books, movies and video games. The amazing array of colors, textures, and people make cosplay photography endlessly varied and exciting. This experience enabled me to join the photo staff at Boston Comic Con, run a photo suite at Anime Boston, shoot masters of cosplay contests and run photography panels at fan expo events.
In late 2019, I began discussing the idea of opening a photo studio with some amazing creators and artists. We conceived of a space that would be safe, welcoming, and inclusive, where people could create and collaborate with confidence. So when a beautiful space in New Bedford became available in 2020, we took the plunge and created Red Raven Studios. After one of the partners left the studio in 2023, it was time for a rebrand: with a nod towards the whaling & fishing heritage of New Bedford and a love of all things tentacular, Kraken Studios was born. We specialize in intimate creative portraiture, big production shoots, unique sets, and generally making improbable ideas into beautiful realities.
I strive to keep learning and growing and experimenting every time I pick up a camera. I've studied with world-renowned fashion photographer Lindsay Adler and award-winning fine art photographer Jennifer King, as well as attending the photography program at New England School of Photography.
